Mission

Diverse Communities Co‑operative Limited is a non‑profit, member‑owned housing co‑op that was established to provide safe, high‑quality homes at below‑market prices for people facing economic hardship and housing insecurity. The co‑op will prioritize individuals and families with low income, as well as those experiencing other vulnerabilities. We will place particular emphasis on welcoming newcomers to Canada and refugees, offering stable, dignified housing that supports settlement, integration, and wellbeing.

Renters will not just be tenants; they will be members and co‑owners who help shape the future of the community. Members will participate in key decisions, support one another, and work together to keep the co‑op strong. The co‑op will not exist to generate profit. Instead, it will reinvest all resources back into the buildings, the members, and the mission, to maintain affordability and long‑term financial sustainability.

Through collective ownership and self‑governance, Diverse Communities Co‑operative Limited will help build resilient, inclusive neighbourhoods where every member has a voice, every home is secure, and everyone has the foundation they need to belong, participate, and thrive.

Our mission is to relieve poverty and help build better futures by offering affordable, below-market housing to individuals and families in need — especially newcomers to Canada and refugees starting over in a new land.
